Courses & Registration

How long are your classes?

Course length varies by class and delivery format. Review the information provided for your selected course before registering, or contact us for help choosing the best option for your schedule.

Do I need to purchase the course book?

AHA students must have access to the latest edition of the appropriate course book. You may bring a current copy or arrange to purchase and receive one through the registration options available for your class.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing. Students demonstrate skills on a padded mat and may kneel on the floor while practicing with a training manikin.

Can I walk in and register on the day of class?

Walk-ins are welcome when space is available, but online registration is strongly recommended because it reserves your seat. If you plan to register in person, arrive at least 20 minutes early.

When will I receive my HeartCode online instructions?

Instructions for the online portion are included with your registration information. You will need an eLearning.Heart.org account and must complete the online module before the in-person skills session.

When will I receive my AHA eCard?

You will receive your AHA eCard after successfully completing the course. Same-day eCards are available for eligible classes.

Is continuing education available?

Continuing education is available for many courses. Please let your instructor know before class if you need CE documentation.

Can I take a renewal course if my card is expired?

No. You must have a current, non-expired certification for the corresponding course to attend an update or renewal class. If your card has expired, register for the initial or full provider course.

Does BLS include CPR and AED training?

Yes. BLS covers one-rescuer and two-rescuer CPR techniques for healthcare providers and includes AED training.

Do I need BLS before taking ACLS or PALS?

Yes. BLS is the foundation for ACLS and PALS, and students must have a current, non-expired BLS certification before attending either course.
